September 16, 2024 - What are the unintended consequences of Filipino parents leaving their children behind to work as nannies for families in Canada? The documentary Inay by Vancouver-based producer/director Thea Loo explores those many lingering effects on the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), their children and their children’s spouses as they all seek a “better life” in Canada.

September 1, 2024 - In the Philippines where abortion is illegal, a young gymnast finds out she’s pregnant just days prior to a national team tryouts. She gets on a jeepney ironically named Gift of God as she seeks illegal abortion drugs. 

August 16, 2024 — The exhibit HOHOL (Hang Out Hang Out Lang) curated by young artists Christian Vistan and Patrick Cruz features artworks by 10 Filipino artists “from across the diaspora”. The exhibit is at the grunt gallery, an artist-run centre in East Vancouver.

August 1, 2024 — The new cast of Toronto’s production of Disney’s The Lion King will include a Filipino-Canadian actor playing the role of young Simba.

August 1, 2024 – Happening now until August 5 at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre in downtown Vancouver, BC is Pagtitipon 2024, an exhibit featuring original artworks in a variety of mediums of a select group of 14 Canadian Filipino artists.

July 16, 2024 — This summer, the Philippine Consulate in Vancouver is featuring an art exhibition showcasing the works of Leo Cunanan, Jr. The exhibition opened on July 5th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and will remain open for three months until September 2024.

June 16, 2024 — After a successful two-month exhibition at the Anvil Centre Community Art Gallery in New Westminster, the colourful and vibrant works of the Dimasalang III International Artists Group have found a new home in Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (MLA) Mable Elmore's office in Vancouver (6106 Fraser Street). 

June 1, 2024 - He started acting, singing, and dancing on stage at age six. He was nine when he acted in his first TV commercial. He started auditioning for TV roles while attending the Vancouver Young Acting School, and at age 10, landed a role in the crime comedy “Get Shorty” (2019).

May 16, 2024 - The Philippine Consulate in Vancouver was transformed into a veritable garden showcasing the paintings of Vancouver-based artist Delia Laglagaron in a show that opened on Friday, April 26, 2024 titled Floral Abstractions. 

February 16, 2024 — In 2008, Lani Maestro took a walk at Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, a neighbourhood that has struggled with complex social challenges, from drug use to prostitution, crime, and homelessness.
