July 16, 2025 — Funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, the Dimasalang III International Artist Group provides free art classes to seniors aged 55 and over, bringing creativity, community, and joy into the lives of older adults.

JULY 1, 2025 - Centennial Square came alive yet again for two days on June 14 and 15, 2025, with MABUHAY!, the Filipino Canadian community of Victoria’s celebration of Philippine culture and traditions and observance of Philippine Independence Day.

March 16, 2025 - Toronto-based not-for-profit Integrated Filipino Canadian Nurses Association (IFCNA) recently inked a memorandum of agreement with the Philippines’ Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) in Quezon City to provide a clinical enhancement program allowing Filipino nurses based in Canada the opportunity to receive training as recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). 

November 16, 2024 - The Government of Canada recently partnered with Forest Foundation Philippines to fund projects that strengthen the Philippines’ climate resilience through mitigation and adaptation strategies. Negros Occidental, particularly the Malogo River and Sicaba River watersheds, has been identified as the program’s target site.

The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver invites history buffs and interested film enhthusiasts to the screening of Unsurrendered, a documentary film commemorating Filipino WWII veterans.

August 16, 2024 - The deadline for overseas voting registration for the 2025 Philippine mid-term elections is fast approaching. 

July 16, 2024 - Anyone who has witnessed or taken part in Victoria’s Filipino community’s myriad events in late May and June will be correct to conclude that the Filipino Canadians in Victoria are confident, unified, creative, generous, and welcoming.  Activity after activity, Filipinos in Victoria came out proud and strong, showing no signs of slowing down.

May 16, 2024 –Canadian Filipino Lucas Sugui III, a Grade 11 student of Killarney Secondary School in Vancouver, B.C., won a regional award in Canada’s Ingenious+ Youth Innovation Challenge for his innovation project, "Paia," under the climate change and environment category, which now qualified him to participate in the national competition taking place in May during Canadian Innovation Week.

April 1, 2024 — Filipino BC and the Sunset on Fraser Business Association will celebrate the Lapu-Lapu Day on April 27 with a multi-block street party on East 41st Avenue to East 48th Avenue in South Vancouver, BC.

March 16, 2024 – On March 7 in British Columbia’s legislative assembly, Vancouver-Kensington MLA Mable Elmore delivered a statement on a fundraising effort to install a permanent marker on the grave of Benson Flores, the earliest recorded Filipino to have arrived in Canada in 1861.
