Beginning November 16, 12 Canadian Filipino artists pay homage to nature through a multi-media art exhibit at the Surrey Art Gallery at 13750 88 Avenue in Surrey. The exhibit How Green is Your Muse? will run until February 2, 2020.

In a press release by organizer Filipino Music and Art Foundation in BC (FMAAF), the exhibit promises “visceral images of peaceful, majestic surrounds while engaging the viewers to imagine a world stripped of clean air and devastated by the effects of harmful human activity.”

Artists selected for the exhibit include Danvic Briones, Ileta Buenaventura, Tessie Dichupa, Jo Galang, Mayo Landicho, Edgardo Lantin, Lenore RS Lim, Chito Maravilla, EsmieGayo McLaren, Bert Monterona, Soliman L Poonon and Broderick Wong.

Media vary from carving, printmaking, traditional paint media to collage of found objects and painting with soil.

FMAAF founder Leonore RS Lim notes, “In caring for the environment, it takes the action of each determined individual to effect a significant impact. Similarly in this exhibit, the creations of each accomplished artist generate a powerful collection of art.”

How Green is Your Muse? is presented by the Surrey Art Gallery and the FMAAF with support from the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver. It follows another FMAAF exhibit held in the summer called Pagtitipon 2019.

An opening reception is slated for November 23 at 2:30 pm. The reception is open to the public. Email This email address is being protected from spambots.
